Live drawings of nude models, penis and breast sculptures and more erotic art in every medium all in the name of fundraising. Yup, sounds like ArtErotica is back and by the buzz of it, better than ever. Event Co-Chair Scott Ballew gives us the naked truth on this Can’t Miss Event. Where did the concept of ArtErotica come from? Well, Chuck Watson, a long-time Octopus Club supporter, started with a small art show many years ago. They were just small parties at a persons home. The concept kinda fell off for a few years, then suddenly the inspiration for an erotic art show/benefit came into being and the first ArtErotica was held.

Tighty whities on Marky Mark have evolved into a multi-billion dollar industry with no end in sight for men’s underwear. That’s music to the ears of designers such as Andrew Christian who has built a reputation on playful, sleek yet masculine undergarments for men. The budding designer from Los Angeles plans his first trip to Austin in April and it is sending local fashionistas into a buzz for LOBO’s Splash Swimwear Show featuring the designer’s newest line on April 13 at Oilcan Harry’s. Andrew Christian dishes a little on diva Janice Dickinson, the drag of designing and his expectations for Austin in April.

Oilcan Harry’s takes a daring new approach to put the “hump” back in Hump Day. The crowd mills around the dance floor, slim cameras and picture phones in hand. One guy grips his drink leaning against the bar in anticipation. Others whisper to one another and smirk at what they see unfolding in front of their eyes. The space inside Oilcan Harry’s usually reserved for dancing or as a stage for the lineup of weekly drag is now home to a shadow box. Inside stands porn star Barrett Long. The shadow cast on the white cloth outlines a dancer who begins to stroke more than his ego. Mouths drop as the medium-sized crowd realizes what is really going on. The music is appropriate; hard beats building to an apparent climax – pun intended – late into a Wednesday night.
